Education.com provides expert advice, features, columns, thousands of reference articles, and a community for parents of pre-school to high school students. Find parenting and educational resources, advice and tips here.
    • Fact Monster is a free reference site for students, teachers, and parents. Get homework help and find facts on thousands of subjects, including sports, entertainment, geography, history, biography, education, and health. Brainiac also recommends the online flashcards and other learning tools found on this user-friendly site.
    • Mensa for Kids is a terrific site for kids to explore - including monthly features, games, and educational activities that kids will love! Have fun!
    • SuperTeacherWorksheets.com provides links to free math worksheets, printable grammar sheets, multiplication facts practice, creative writing prompts, math word problems, manuscript printing practice, and much more. Some areas on this site can send you to advertisements for teaching and learning materials, but the free materials are clearly listed on the home page. Scroll down and look at the far lefthand column to find quick links to various subject-areas.
    • Teach-nology.com offers free access to thousands of worksheets and teaching resources in lanaguage arts, math, arts and humanities, social studies, science, music and physical education. Some areas on this site require a nominal registration fee, but there are plenty of high quality materials available for free.

    Language Arts

    • Mrs. Perkins' Dolch Words provides the list of 220 common sight words that children should know by the end of first grade, along with activities, worksheets, and other resources designed to help teach the words.

    Math

    • A Fun Selection of Mathematical Webquests Webquests utilize the Internet to obtain information to be used in a group project. A math Webquest focuses the project on math and uses relevant data to be used in varying mathematical exercises. They also involve students working in cooperation within a group to understand and study mathematics. Most math Webquests involve critical thinking and reasoning in order to reach the right conclusions. This involves problem solving, communication, corrections, representation, and reasoning, which meet the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics process standard.
    • Math is Fun Math is explained in easy language, plus this site includes puzzles, games, quizzes, worksheets and a forum for K-12 kids, teachers and parents.
    • IXL Math This is a fanstastic site with unlimited math questions in more than 1,000 topics. Brainiac loves this site because the site is attractive, user-friendly, and makes it easy to see what skills should be learned at each grade level. Another bonus is that this site contains quick links to the math standards set for each state, by grade level.
    • MathDrills.com includes over 6000 free worksheets with answer keys. Worksheets include drill for elementary, middle, and high school students.
    • Math Dictionary for Kids is an animated and interactive dictionary that provides definitions and examples.
    • Multiplication.com has numerous resources to help students master multiplication. What is unique about this site is that it explains the pros and cons of various strategies that parents might use to help their children memorize the multiplication tables. If rote memorization is not working for your child, you might find this site very helpful.
    • Superkids has customizable math worksheets that provide practice and answer sheets for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, order of operation, fractions, percents, and telling time.

    • Magnet Man is a fun site that explains basic principles of magnets and magnetism to students, and also suggests numerous fun experiments.

    Social Studies and Geography

    • SoftSchools Geography Games presents some excellent resources, including fun online quizzes, to help students learn basic geography. Hey parents, see if you can beat your child's score on the States quiz!
    • World Atlas has terrific outline maps to help students learn continents, countries, and states. Quiz maps are printable and answer keys are provided.

    • Guide to Grammar and Writing contains scores of digital handouts on grammar and English usage, over 170 computer-graded quizzes, recommendations on writing -- from basic problems in subject-verb agreement and the use of articles to exercises in parallel structures and help with argumentative essays, and a way to submit questions about grammar and writing.
    • High School Ace English provides links to writing guides, literary guides, and research guides.

    • Khan Academy. Okay, we just LOVE this site! You have to see these amazing instructional videos! The Khan Academy is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) with the mission of providing a world-class education to anyone, anywhere. Despite being the work of one man, Salman Khan, this 1800+ video library is the most-used educational video resource as measured by YouTube video views per day and unique users per month.
    • High School Ace Math provides links to useful sites related to algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus -- including AP calculus.
    • MathDrills.com includes over 6000 free arithmetic, algebra, amd geometry worksheets with answer keys.

      • Chemistry Lecture Notes is a wonderful resource for high school and college chemistry students
      • Educational YouTube Videos is a video library of videos about physics, math, and chemistry.
      • Periodic Videos is an excellent series of educational and entertaining videos from Nottingham University in which they guide you through each element of the periodic table with simple experiments.

      Physics

      • The Physics Classroom is an online interactive tutorial of basic physics concepts. The lessons use an easy-to-understand language to present common physics principles discussed in a first-year high school physics course. Topics are explained and sample problems, with answers, follow.
      • Splung Physics provides help with the fundamentals of physics. This site is aimed at students studying general physics, high school physics or even university physics. It is illustrated using Flash demonstrations and experiments.

    • In Like Me bills itself as "The College Admission & Student Aid Resource Hub" -- and it really hits the mark! The site has tips for high school Seniors, standardized test information, links to aid and scholarships sources, information about the top colleges in the country, a free newsletter, and more. High school juniors, seniors, and their parents will find this site to be an invaluable resource, so check it out soon and often!
    • High School Ace College Prep Guide provides links to college directories and college admissions and financial aid tips.
    • Educational Testing Service is a nonprofit institution advancing quality education with valid educational testing, curriculum development assets and test prep products. This site gives some basic information about numerous tests, inlcuind the AP and CLEP tests.
    • College Board is where you go to find out everything you need to know about the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, AP and CLEP tests. This site also has college planning tools that help students narrow down college options and choices.
    • The ACT Student site is where you go to find out about and register for the ACT tests.

    Foreign Languages
